Hello world (again)
I've been trying to get back to blogging, but there has always been an excuse. Updating my blog on my previous website felt like a significant threshold. Everything was static, and I used my own back-end framework that I had written in PHP (Ziggurat). Pages consisted of PHP and Markdown with custom headers à la Jekyll. Getting back to PHP development and, setting up the dev environment always caused some issues. It was either Sharp, node-gyp or some other package that didn't wanna cooperate. Or it was the proxy server I had setup for all the Gulp functions that were hot-wired to Browsersync to refresh the page when changes occurred. So clearly touching my website and adding features was an ordeal.
So here we are, 2024. I've been playing with front-end frameworks for years and headless CMSs are a comfortable way to keep my website static yet easily updatable. My current setup is Next.js for the frontend with Prismic.io as the CMS. Smooth, fast and comfortable!
Stay tuned for (hopefully) more posts from me!
